American Airlines Announces Major Expansion of European Routes for 2024
If you missed out on booking your European summer getaway this year, American Airlines has some exciting news for you. The airline has announced its largest transatlantic expansion since the pandemic began in 2020, with the launch of four new routes to major European cities in 2024.
Starting from June 6, 2024, American Airlines will offer daily non-stop flights from Philadelphia to Copenhagen, Nice, and Naples. Additionally, on May 6, 2024, they will launch daily non-stop service from Philadelphia to Barcelona.
Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning, expressed his excitement about this expansion, saying, “American is thrilled to add three new European destinations.” He noted that the new services from Philadelphia and expanded transatlantic service from Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth will provide convenient one-stop access to Europe from over 200 unique destinations across the United States next summer.
Furthermore, American Airlines will resume non-stop flights between Chicago and Venice and move up the start dates of several seasonal routes to Europe, including Chicago and New York to Athens. Additionally, some popular seasonal routes will now operate year-round, such as Charlotte to Madrid, Dallas-Fort Worth to Rome, and Philadelphia to Barcelona.
For those eager to plan their 2024 summer vacations, tickets for the new European routes went on sale as of August 20. However, if you can’t wait until then, American Airlines is also expanding its winter schedule to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America. While no new routes are being added, they are increasing the frequency of some of their most popular flights, including Dallas-Fort Worth to Buenos Aires, Miami to Bridgetown, Barbados, and Charlotte to Eleuthera, Bahamas.
